The GTA 6 wanted level

Six stars, and under them a row of icons for what the police actually know: your face, your clothes, your car, your weapon and whether there were two of you.

All of it was shown in the 26-minute GTA 6 gameplay video or stated in the hands-on previews, and it sits with the rest of the confirmed GTA 6 features. The GTA 6 release date is 19 November 2026.

How many stars is the GTA 6 wanted level?

Six, one more than the five of GTA V and GTA Online.

What do the icons under the stars mean?

Each one is something the police have on you: a description of your face, your clothes, CCTV footage, whether they know there are two of you, your vehicle and your weapon. Change one of them and its icon drops.

When does a wanted level start?

Only once a crime is witnessed or an alarm goes off. Until the police have a description, the stars show as hollow outlines.

How do you lose the police?

The area where they lost you stays marked on the map and is searched until it cools down. From three stars the narrow streets make escaping by car hard, so alleys on foot are the better way out. A mask or face wrap put on before a robbery keeps some of the icons from appearing at all.

What happens to your own car?

If the police know your car was used in a crime, they can wait by it after you get away. Leave it too long and it is impounded: you pay to get it out, or steal it back.

What can the police do to stop you?

They lay stinger strips across the road, and K9 units can run you down and pin you to the ground.

What if Jason and Lucia split up?

One can draw the heat while the other gets away and texts when the coast is clear. If either one is arrested, it is Busted, even while the other is still running.

Why is this site called SixStars?

Six stars is the highest wanted level in the series: the point where the whole map stops being a playground and starts hunting you. SixStars, the GTA 6 fan community, is named after it.
